The CDC’s report, “ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE in the United States” has identified the current antibiotic resistance threat by severity (Urgent/Serious/Concerning) and microorganism.1

Listed among these 18 top US health threats include; C. difficile, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA), Streptococcus peumoniae, Salmonella, and Tuberculosis.1

While at the same time the United States government reports antibiotic resistance for very concerning microorganisms, they have also identified an answer for many of these concerns at NIH.

“Allicin is an active ingredient of garlic that has antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antiprotozoal activity.”  In the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) studies, allicin has significant effect on bacteria, viruses and funguses.2  The NIH further reports that allicin, “exhibit various biological properties like antimicrobial, anticancer, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, antiinflammatory, hypoglycemic, and cardiovascular effects.”3
